Kaslo is one of the coolest little Villages I have visited in the past years, it reminds me of the small European towns I have visited in the past.  Located on the shores of Kootnay Lake, the Purcell Mountains tower above the huge tree lined streets.   The little town is all about local, supporting local while supporting the community.  The town was built on the wealth created by the silver mining boom of the late 1800s and the hills surrounding Kaslo are rich in the history of those days gone.  History I look to adventure out into and explore.  Come explore Kaslo with me.

The Riding: With all the mining here in the past means lots of access to lots of different terrain.  The riding community is hard at work building trails, building access while building community.  Check out the Kaslo Montain Bike Club’s descriptions of the 5 zones you have to ride

Keeping it Social: There are many a spot to check out for a beer including Angry Hen Brewing.  If you are looking for something a bit snazzy the Mexican restaurant is one of the best I have been to in BC.

Heritage Attractions: Japanese Canadian Museum, Kootenay Star Museum, Langham Cultural Center and the Lardeau Valley Historical Museum.

Jazz Fest: Every August long weekend – stunning vistas, unique floating stage, great acoustics and superb musicians combine to create this summer music festival.

Kaslo River Trail: A scenic riverside ramble (6km easy), looping the north and south sides of the Kaslo River,  The beautiful 100 foot covered bridge is the half way point.

Saturday Market and Shopping Main Street: A wonderful Saturday market that takes over main street showcasing some of the local Artisans.  Remembering there are many cool local shops to visit any day of the week.

A walk down to town for a cheaky pint, some groceries or to check out the local businesses.

Kaslo Manor Lodge: When I was visiting Kaslo learning about the people, the community and where I wanted to live. I always booked a room at the Kaslo Manor Lodge.  Marie and her family are long time residents who know the community better than most and always had time to point me in the right direction.   Located 5min walk to town and 2min walk to Bikeroom.

Bikeroom Accommodations: We have our own accommodation on site to make things easy and fun.  Everyone is always into bikes, the talk is great while learning lots about yourself and others.

  • $60 per night for a shared room
  • $100 per night for your own room
  • We can accommodate campers too

Although the riding didnt bring me right to Kaslo.  I see huge potential and have a huge want to explore the area.  I have ridden my e bike from town, scoped a bunch of wicked gravel rides and look forward to make Monster my trail.
